Charged 4x higher for same service! $2.01 per therm.run around from customer service and supervisors.

I have been a Georgia Natural Gas (GNG) customer since late 2020. I apparently called one day after my plan expired on 11/29/23 and they had converted me to a plan that was approximately 4 times higher than the average therm rate.

I was told that because it was within a day there was nothing that could be done during the call. I called again in late January and was able to get a lower rate than the $2.01 therm rate I was paying. I was told that a supervisor would review my account and get back to me about a credit. No return call - followed up on 2/27/24 to see when the new rate would finally go into effect (bear in mind, GNGs line is that this can take 1-2 months.

For a client that has always paid their bills on time (including an extraordinarily large one today at a rate of over $2 per therm), I was flabbergasted that they were more concerned about charging the $2.01 therm rate than providing nothing more than a $50 credit. There are lots of gas provider options out there and I suspect many or most would provide better customer service than I have received.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. After talking to multiple supervisors, someone called me and resolved it, but it was painful.

Do not use this servicing company!!! I sold a property in 2022, and they wouldn't turn it off because they could not figure out which account it was. After a year, they figured out which account it was, but they could not find the meter to turn it off. After three attempts to find the meter (which is directly in front of the property), I stopped paying the bill, and they had no trouble finding the meter to turn it off immediately. I asked for a price adjustment, and they only offered me essentially one month off when I paid for almost 18 months of the bill. Do not use the company!!!

Dishonest and sharp practices. I have signed up for the winter guaranteed bill that lasts six months for about five years or more now.

Each time, my bill was the same for the six months. This year, I was ripped off. They billed me the same amount for the guaranteed bill for the seventh month. I had only used way less than 5CCF of gas and I was charged $120!

Apparently the GA Consumers bureau ( i may not get their name right) that oversees utilities is complicit in the rip-off as well. Same with AGLC. Your AGLC base charge is always at least five times the amount of gas used. Thats daylight robbery.

Its very unfair and shows lack of conscience.

My gripe with GNG is the overcharge this time around. The customer service was so rude every time they responded to my emails about this overcharge.

Another issue is transparency. On their website as of today, when you select shops for plans, under each plan, it clearly says No early termination fees. Then click to select your desired plan, BOOM, there goes all the fees involved at various stages of early termination that you must consent to.

Who does that? Is there no more integrity in business?

Take your business elsewhere, people. Not worth it.

Literal idiots. My service was supposed to be transferred over from my old address to new address.

I even got charged a connection fee. Then I get a knock on the door with a threat to turn off gas because we never established a service...and I'm like uh yeah I called GNG and did this back in August. Then had to spend two hours on the phone getting this sorted out and will get back charges for the past couple months once they come out to "start" it. AND I still have to call back to remind them to waive the $60 fee so I don't get charged that AGAIN!

WTF?!

They are so f***in stupid. Pissed me off big time.

I wasted 4 hours of my day and 3days out of work trying to have my gas reconnected!Tge bill was paid the same day it was disconnected!!These ignorant disrespectful so called agents are useless they want me to wait 8days for my gas to be restored!!!EVEN AFTER LYING TO ME SAYING THAT IF I GET A LETTER FROM MY DOCTOR THAT THEY WOULD TURN IT ON AS A EMERGENCY!!These mfs have the audacity to say that I have to wait until Monday!!Mind you its Friday morning!I sent paperwork on Thursday as well but still they are saying that I wont have my gas until Monday!!I hate this poor *** excuse for a company the policies are shit!I will be reporting this to my lawyer and to the BBB!

I made an over payment of 71.94 on July 3rd 2023 I spoke to them four times They told me i had to wait 18 days before i could get a refund ,They told me I would get it back on the seventeenth I looked in my bank no refund I called again they told me they would put in a request for a refund and i would have to wait another 18 days And they can't refund my card only send a check Over 3 people lied to me, They will not be my gas company After renewal time

No human being has reached out to me but, I paid the $210.47 because I did not want my name enter into collections. I am how ever worried that they may have reported this to the credit bureaus and my credit may have been affected by this.

I will never ever get these thieves ever again neither for love nor money. They never sent me details of what I signed up for.

They never even confirmed with me what service or "IF" I was even signed up with them. I was still shopping around looking for a gas company when I called them, they then told me that based on my phone # they saw that I have an order in the system and if I would like to complete the order. So I told them that I was still shopping around so what do they have to offer. They told me what the order was and if I would like to complete the order and I said no.

She continued to sell me the service telling me how good their service is. I told her no again because that was too high for me. The thieves then told me that, if I canceled I would have to pay for the balance owing according to the terms of the contract. I asked her what contract?

I told her I did not sign a contract with them. She then told me to hold-on. When she came back to the phone she told me that she see that there is currently an outstanding invoice for $10 on the account that I would have to pay before I could cancel the account. I asked her what is that account, she couldn't give me the account #, I told her that you can't find one because none was open or given to me so I don't have an account with the and I never got an invoice from them.

So because I want to get off the phone with her I told her okay I'll pay it.

Now this morning I got a phone call from a 888-807-**** and a machine telling me that my account will be sent to collections in 10 days if I do not pay $210.47 balance of my account. WICKED, WICKED AND THIEF.

This was a good company and up into last year customer service and billing was good. However, after an extremely not normal winter in Georgia with bills 4-10x's higher than normal; and with Atlanta Gas Light increasing their base charge, Georgia Natural Gas (GNG) has officially been added to my never do business with list.

They tried to cut my gas off for the big price of $0.29 and refuse to put it on the next bill. FYI. They system want allow you to run cc for $0.29, it only took once I got to $10.00. No, they did not forgive $10.00 late charge, which you have done twice a year, and have only done that once in the 8 years I've been with them, 5 years ago.

I informed them that I will be switching gas providers and immediately stop sending them customers. GNG lost a loyal paying customer and free marketing all over trying to turn off my gas for $0.29

A sane person would have paid the $10.00 and had a credit on the account. Look at you now...

I don't think they'll miss you or the hordes (sarcasm) of customers you're sending them. "loyal paying customer" is short for I'm an old coot who thinks he runs things and just found out how little you matter.

I paid actually paid more than the 29¢, because there system doesn't take payments under $10. The issue is GNG actually issued a shutoff date for the missing payment of 29¢ and added a late payment fee of $10, and GNG lost a customer.

So I'm not an idiot, my gas didn't get shutoff, the 3 people I just referred to them went with other companies, and I will never ever do business with them again. Plus I will continue to tell people about this because I've found other people that the same thing has happen to them over this last year.

Corporate just doesn't care. So if you choose to do business with GNG and a problem comes up and you don't get any assistance, don't complain because you were warned.

I spoke to someone at the company and vented my frustration. We came to a compromise. I lost some money but canceled my account and the matter is over and done with.

My opinion on the matter has not changed…However, I have severed my relationship with Georgia Natural Gas and will review my utility contracts annually so this never happens to me again. Word of advice:Utility companies are highly regulated so they have to send...

Do not give this business your money.
I have been a customer of Georgia Natural Gas since October 2020. I signed up for the fixed rate "Guaranteed Plan" for convenience sale.

My usage has remained the same on average this entire time, but my bill increased 100% from November 2022 to December 2022. I am being charged almost three times their advertised contract rate.

They automatically renewed my contract before I saw the increased bill, so I can't switch to something more affordable without paying a $150 early contract termination fee.
This is reprehensible price gouging. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Georgia Public Service Commission.

Can I give negative stars??? These people are awful. I signed up for a 12 month flat rate. Six months later they inform me that the flat rate is over and they offer me a 12 month flat rate at a much higher cost. I sent them copies of the original letters, but that made no difference. This happened three more times until I got fed up and changed carriers. There is a reason why GNG has ONE STAR. Sign up with anyone else.

Charged termination fee to RENEW a contract

today the kicker was when I had to renew my fixed gas contracts with Georgia Natural Gas for my home and business because the 12 month fixed contracts end 5/31/22 with Georgia Natural Gas. I called today because they sent me a notice ( several times at the start of April and every day this week) stating its time to RENEW for the next 12 months.

Not only did the rate increase 25 % more, but they are starting my new rate today not after 5/31/22 when the old contract ends. Then after i confirmed the contract and its changes, I was told the fee is effective immediatley AND there's an EARLY TERMINATION FEE of $100 per account for changing contracts. The first person told me if she wrote a note they MAY waive the fee. She also said she was going to send me emails for both confirming our conversation.

I was also told at 1:00pm she was sending those emails to me. Of course 5 hours later, no email. I called back at 545 pm and I was told by yet a different agent, that it is the policy of Georgia Natural Gas to charge the termination fees and raise the rate on the day you renew the contract, and not on the day the old contract ends. I asked was I supposed to wait until the June 1 after it expired to renew?

Why did you send me emails daily? Why did you not tell me this before I accepted a new contract and you dropped the 2 others?? Then i would have had to wait to change from the variable rate which is > 35% more than I already pay per therm. It takes hours to get them onthe phone and do this and i guess they expect us not to work and take our time off to do this!!

NOPE they take $$ and DO NOT CARE!! And now I'm locked into 24 months more or Ill have to pay $200 per account to change it!!
