Georgia Natural Gas - GNG no notice they move you to variable and no credit for the bait and switch, $100 to "come back" is a scam too
I'll never use them again. I was with GNG for two years.
Last year I rolled off the fixed plan and never noticed. Got nothing in the mail and no phone calls to me as a current customer to tell me I was about to get hijacked to a variable plan to almost double my price per therm. This happened in approx March of 2013. When I noticed I called then and spent an enormous amount of time trying to get ANY adjustment to my bill.
Most companies would accommodate you to keep you as a customer but NOT Georgia Natural Gas!!! They are horrible and screwed us out of about $140 in charges (difference between fixed rate and variable the increased it to). I gave them every chance and they were terrible. So I went to SCANA.
They have been great. Sent me a letter telling me on Sept 4th I would be changed to a variable plan UNLESS I chose one of their fixed plan and made an offer to us for .64 a therm. At the same time the CALLED me today, did you hear that GNG, they called me to warn me that my rate would go up unless I chose a new plan by Sept 4th. My wife noticed a flyer to get $100 from GNG to "come back" offering this $10 a month credit for 10 months.
Like an *** I called them to take this deal and was told the cust service charge was based on my credit. Not only do I have good credit I have always paid utilities for 30 years on time. OF COURSE she ran my credit and said "congratulations you can switch to GNG and your cust (no) service charge will be $7.99. To which I asked why and she said it was not really based on your credit but on you utility payment history.
So the $10 credit per month for 10 months will give them back $24 in the extra $2 per month service charge SCAM. They are not *** but NEITHER am I, avoid these crooks. Now I hate them. She asked her supervisor and I was told to enroll and after a few months it would likely change.
I told her to forget it and hung up. Oh well, I tried.
